Adults in Ireland will spend over €57 million on Father’s Day this year.

 

  • In Ireland 1 in 2 adults celebrate Father’s Day and do something special for their dad.

 

  • Of those who celebrate Father’s Day, 74% plan to give their dad a present and 13% might or sometimes get a present for their dad.

 

  • Nearly half (49%) of those who buy presents will get a Father’s Day card, and 1 in 4 (26%) will bring them out for dinner.

 

  • 53% of adults think Father’s Day is a commercial holiday, but its still good to celebrate it and 15% think its overly commercial and it shouldn’t be celebrated.

 

  • More than 1 in 3 (36%) say that their favourite Irish Father’s saying is ‘Have you asked your mother’, 26% say their favourite is ‘Were you born in a barn?’, and 17% say its ‘As long as you’re living under my roof, you’ll…’.

 

  • Over half (58%) of adults think that Fathers should be more honoured by society in general, and 57% think Fathers should be more honoured by the media in Ireland.

 

  • 51% of adults think that Fathers should be more supported but only when there is gender equality for parents in Ireland.
